I took a chance and was pleased

I haven't needed a Sawzall during 5 years of home ownership and the construction of one experimental airplane. Finally I came across a job that would just be much easier with one and I could coordinate borrowing one soon enough. I gambled on the least expensive one that seemed decent and I am very happy with the results. This saw is just as good as the DeWalt one's I've borrowed before. Highly recommend.

Great product

I agree with Wingnut. I bought the saw for the exact same reason. After looking around, this was the least expensive saw with decent power and since I needed it for one current job, I took a chance on it. No problems at all with it. Whatever reason has made this a remanufactured product, Skil has done a good job to provide a like new product. Not to mention it comes in a carrying bag and it now cost less then when I bought it. Lucky you.

Reconditioned is the way to go

A lower price for the reconditioned tool and probably the recon ones are quality checked more thoroughly than the new ones coming off the line. There were no visible marks or scars on mine and it works great. I have no complaints. It comes with a carrying bag, the owner's manual is very helpful as a how-to-use guide, and there are resources such as videos on the internet (some good, some very homemade) demonstrating how to use one.Not a tool for everyday home maintenance projects for newer homes nor am I a professional carpenter; for my somewhat older home repair projects this Skill reconditioned reciprocating saw has been very much worth the money.
