This Makita Combo Kit combines the L times DT08Z Impact Driver with Brushless motor and the L timesPH05Z Hammer Drill with Brushless motor. The efficient Makita BL Brushless motor is electronically controlled to optimize the battery energy us for up to 50-Percent longer run time per charge. The brushless motor eliminates carbon brushes, enabling the motor to run cooler and more efficiently for longer life. The electronically controlled motor uses energy to match torque and RPM to the changing demands of the application. The Makita Impact driver motor delivers 1,420-Inch-Pound of torque. It has a compact design at only 5-7/8-Inch long and weighs just 3.4-Pound for reduced operator fatigue. Makita's proprietary hammer and anvil impact mechanism are manufactured using the best raw materials with the highest quality steel and unique heat hardening process for maximum fastening and driving power. The built in L.E.D. light illuminates the work area. The Hammer drill has a variable 2-speed (0-400 and 0-1,500 RPM) covers a wide range of drilling and driving applications. The compact and ergonomic design comes in at only 7-5/8-Inch long and weighs only 3.8-Pound for reduced operator fatigue. It includes: 2 ea. 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Battery (BL1830), 1 30-Minute Rapid Optimum Charger (DC18RA) and Tool Case.

Brushless is the Best

Battery life is outstanding, as most jobs I can use the one battery all day, and use the backup battery as a backup. You can feel the extra power in the drill and impact. The tools also run much cooler when used heavily. I have already started abusing the tools, dropping them off a 8ft ladder the other day, no issues there.I like the Makita out of the other brands for the light weight, comfortable grips through the day, and the power. It also helps that I can use the same battery on all of the Makita tools I have that are lithium-ion.I have owned most brands of cordless tools over the years. Recently trying the newer lithium in Milwuakee, Dewalt, and Makita. The Milwaukee was strong and but bulky and not comfortable to use. The Dewalt was good at first but felt cheaply made and did not wear well over time. The Makita LXT tools have all held up very well, comfortable to use all day, and powerful. That is why I wanted to try the new brushless tools. I have read about the extra power and run time that brushless tools can offer. I took a chance on the Makita brushlees and would recommend it to anyone looking for the next step in battery power.

Great theory. Not made like old Makita tools.

This combo felt great! The impact driver is tiny, with reasonable torque. I drove 5" lag screws into 2x4's with ease.Not quite as fast as some impact drivers. I'd guess that is the trade off for weight/size. The drill is well balanced. The brushless concept sounds great, as it makes a world of difference in my hobby. IAs a screw gun, my issue surfaced, severe chuck wobble. This made the drill basically unusable in any mode. I looked over the drill more closely, and it appears. to have a plastic shaft bearing. This is not the quality I expect from Makita,, based on their older tools. 3 strikes and your out! Nice try Makita, you need more quality control these days.

Makita Combo Kit LXT239 Impact Driver is great, Drill is a joke

I am very impressed with the Makita impact driver. I have already used it for several abusive projects and it has exceeded my expectations. It is very light and battery life is excellent. Controls feel comfortable. The Drill is an embarrassment for Makita. It does look, feel and sound like a quality Makita product, but the run-out on the chuck is horrible, and this was just removed from the box. The only reason I did not return it is because I essentially only paid $40 for the drill since the kit price was so reasonable. It appears to be a $40 drill.
